My favorite game for mac is Civilization IV. I had been a big fan of Civ2, but I skipped 3. When Steam came out for Mac, I grabbed Civ4 right away and have lost more hours than I can count to that one. The variety of strategies available make it endlessly re-playable.

My favorite game for the mac is a toss up of Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 for the same reasons. The massive ammount of carnage makes both games awesome

As I kid, I remember playing Bolo with some friends in my basement using some daisy-chained Performas. It was one of the coolest network game for Mac at the time. I still sometimes play today using the OS X port, although, I have been known to divide my G3 classroom iMacs into teams and have them compete on autopilot while I work.

Currently, it is StarCraft 2 because of the unrelenting StarCraft playing community, who will stop at nothing to win the game. Please stop pulverizing me every time I play......

Loved Diablo!
I use to play it in multiplayer with my sister who was on the other side of the state...
I was fun teamwork wiping out those evil characters...

Plants VS. Zombies, all the way :)

Thinking way back - Deus Ex is my fave. The story line was immersive, and I loved the different ways that you could approach each level. It was not simply a First Person Shooter, it could also be a First Person "Sneaker". Great game. My current fave, and certainly my all time biggest time sync in games is WoW - perfect balance of fun and work, and a great place for building real friends.

City of Heroes is probably my favorite game of all time, but I also have just as much love for Age of Empires. Best RTS of all time I think.

Deus Ex is easily my favorite game of all time, I played it all the way through 10 times! And each time I found something new. I loved the game because of its diverse approach to every situation and the setting and story. JC is so badass.

Civ IV is my favorite game for the Mac by far... One day, though, this may be unseated by StarCraft 2 - or Civ V if I win the game... :)

The music, the voice acting, the look and feel. Just love that game.

Hmmm, I've playe a lot of Em since steam came out on the Mac. But I'd have to say that my favorite Mac osx game is portal. It's so.. Different and it's like a breath of fresh air in a room clogged but he same video games remade over and over with different names. Thanks maclife. Still trying to beat your rat on a scooter score nic! I'm getting closer! Thanks again

StarCraft 2, because we all waited forever to it, and it lives up to legacy of the first.

TF2 is by far my favorite Mac game. It's the main reason I was so excited to see Steam come to the mac. I like team shooters, and this one was so crappy on the 360, but with so much potential, I really enjoyed getting a working version.

favorite game: Starcraft II
why: well, it doesn't really need an explanation... it just is!

Sentabire

An immensely gripping and involving game, absolutely worth every penny I paid for it. Deep characterization, amazing gameplay, Game of the Decade, as far as I'm concerned.

The many different civilizations to choose from was great and missed from following releases.

Has to be Bioshock for mac. I reallywant bioshock 2 to come out for mac, but to my disapointment, it has not appeared.
I have Civilization 4, and it is awesome. could really use more than 2 mac games.

captainbowtie

Love the fact that it's a different scenario every time I play.

avatar

sbwolves72

Has to be Half Life 2 via Steam. LOVE that game. paced really well and the controls are pretty flawless...and I get to kill aliens!

avatar

maclover

A very mind boggling game, and I can't wait for Portal 2.

avatar

InternetComplete

is probably World of Warcraft. I love all the blizzard games, but WoW was the one that I sunk the most time into. Probably a close second/third would be Civ IV or and older game called EV Nova

I want to say TF2 Half Life 2 and Portal, so The Orange Box is the winner! with honorable mention to Civ IV & Warlords. I like being God/ President-dictator dude.

Tales of Monkey Island. It brings back so many fond memories of playing the original games in my childhood, plus I love the humor.

Rob4Mac

Aside from Civilization, I've always loved SimCity. I know, it's old school, but fun.

CrazyerNerd

My favorite Mac game has to be Warcraft III. Runs awesome on OS 10.6 (near-instant startup FTW!). Plus, I'm awesome at it! I don't even think Nic could beat me at it!

EDIT: Scratch that, it's Portal. That last answer is the cake.

OlivetheAzn

I LOVE Left for Dead just because there are zombies and shooting zombies. Create game to play in the dark, haha.

avatar

jsbournival

Gotta be EVE Online.

This game is my favorite! Hands Down!

Love calculator. It's the best.

My favorite Mac game is flat out Civ IV, I love the complexity and infinite challenges presented along with the replay value. I've played every Civ since the original.

souch3

An old game recently ported to the mac. Great classic strategy game play and an excellent port of the code.

My favourite game for Mac (outside Civ IV) is Clonk Rage, because of the customisable nature of it, and the massive online community that formed around it giving the gamer an endless amount of free new content to download for it. Also, the slapstick sense of humour in it is priceless and ageless. You can get it on the cheap at www.clonk.de
