I love Google Maps/Google Earth. to view these on a big screen TV would rock. I have a collection of old music videos that would rock on the BSTV also.

Streaming Content from my Mac to my TV without an HDMI Cable - $50
Connecting my TV to the Internet without a Router - $200
Using my HDTV to extend my Mac's workspace - $1000
Putting the fear of God in misbehaving children when Dad's face suddenly appears on the TV in the family room - Priceless

I'd use it to post "The AcE", otherwise known as The Benny Hill Theme, over LA freeway chases before i stick em on YouTube

i'd use it to stream video, pics, anything (duh!) from my 17" MacBook pro to my 103" plasma Panasonic while hijacking the wifi signal from the McD's nearest the bridge I live under.

avatar

arjay67

I'd use it to stream my library to my living room Sharp Aquos Quattron!

avatar

damonfendrick

I would use this to stream movies for family night.

I would have a lot of fun with McTiVia. It looks like an awesome product. But to be perfectly honest, the person who commented that they are recovering from cancer would probably get more use out of it then I would.

Netflix would look so good on my big screen :)

avatar

steven_a_jones

I would stream all of these movie I am watching on a 15 inch screen over on my 55 inch TV.

avatar

swanwoman

I would love to have this! I am recovering from cancer and in bed a lot. I can’t afford cable anymore. I have been trying to figure out the best way to stream programs and games to a TV in the bedroom. This seems like the answer. Here is hoping I win the McTivia!!

avatar

cornflakes

I would use it to replace my useless Google TV box!

avatar

bvisconti

kids could watch their shows/movies on the tv!

avatar

rouleauj

I'd use it to have my widescreen act as a monster monitor. Everything from mac movies to email would be better!

avatar

TheTick

I would use it to look at spam email on the big screen.

avatar

scdepatr

I recently purchased a mini dvi to hdmi so I could stream my Amazon content and share photos and home videos with visitors without having to have everyone looking over my shoulder to view my Mac screen! This would allow me much more flexibility and spontaneity.

avatar

hockney

It would be nice to use my Mac again!

avatar

vd2011

Would be fun to win this gadget.

avatar

drummerboy5678

This is an amazing invention!

avatar

bmitchelf

Watching TV shows from Hulu on the screen for which they were intended.

avatar

Cory Fernandez

this would be great to dream by training videos.

avatar

NONAMEGRL

I would use it to play a prank on everybody who thinks its funny to record EMBARASSING videos on my mac by having a party and putting the videos on the 52" flat screen and putting the speakers on loud!!! And by putting the videos on loop! That'll show them!! Then i would put the videos on facebook and youtube..... ;)

avatar

zachsterza1994

i'd use this to plug my mac into my TV wirelessly. Or Manage my wireless network with greater speed.

avatar

Twittly

I would use this to put my MBP to my flat screen TV

avatar

jbelliz

I have been recently converted from windows to Mac's during the past year, and need a device like this one to stream all of my extensive content on my new macbook air to my 70" tv screen!! That would be fabulous!!! MAC'S ALL THE WAY!!! LOL

avatar

lazyrivr

I don't have great needs: I just want to watch Hulu on my TV.

avatar

sseger

Our household has gone entirely cable-free, so I would love to experiment with this equipment to see what other great content we can stream, such as Hulu. Thanks, to Mac|Life for such a great magazine and website!

avatar

hughhoagie

Our family does not have cable, but we keep all of our purchased content on our Mac. It would be great to stream those, and content from things like Hulu to our TV!

avatar

robmkeith

I would use this to stream all of the movies sitting on my Mac out to the TV in the living room. And I could finally patch up the hole in the wall that I'm currently using to run the HDMI cable from my Mac to the living room TV! lol

avatar

armyguy3569

I would use it to stream all 32,556 items from my iTunes onto any of the four 62" televisions I have in my home!

avatar

IloveJesus24

So my wife and I are moving to Taiwan in 2 weeks to Church plant, my wife is also 6 mo's pregnant. It would be great to be able to Skype with my parents and show them our new baby girl Hosanna Grace!

avatar

godgoogler

So I develop a bunch of lectures for med students and other college students and young adults on issues of importance to them--mostly self-introspection and other developmental issues. I have used my mac to do some of these lectures with various people using SKYPE. But I'd love to put them on a big screen in my home and McTivia would allow me to do that. I also would love to watch CBS shows which I can only stream on my laptop in my "there's no way I'm spending a ridiculous amount of money on cable" household.

Plus, Mac rocks.

avatar

weirdsci

I wonder how I could use this in classroom? It would be great if I didn't have to tether my Macbook Pro to my projector.

avatar

pm623

I'd use to slash my outrageous $210/month cable bill.

avatar

grifstudio

The possibilities are endless. My kids will think I'm cool!!, for a second. I can convert my "Windows" friends on how cool Mac's are on a big screen. Not to mention the online videos, photos, webpages....Like I said, it is endless!

avatar

tpb3jd

Oh so many videos of Kenny Powers being excellent! And years of photos taken while on deployment, videos that don't work on iTunes, and blown up topographical maps that I can use to take my dopey lab on hikes around Washington State.

avatar

ddstb

I would use it to go shopping. My husband would be so busy playing (if he could keep it from the kids) that he wouldn't miss me. Momma needs new shoes!

avatar

brannman27

I would use the McTiVia to control my iMac through my TV & watching media on my TV from my iMac.

avatar

spacemac

I would use my 65" HD TV to display my MacBook Pro screen. It would also allow me to edit those videos much better in large view. I could also stream my videos and display my phot album on teh screen when the realtives visit over the holidays. Might even convert one or two to a mac user.

avatar

henare

a final touch to get windows out of my home entertainment system ...

avatar

rsefczek

i have to give regular lectures for employees but the large screen tv at work:
a. is in a very inconvenient location to try and plug in my macbook and
b. only has a VGA plug (and work is too cheap to buy an adapter!)

avatar

dcoplan

I'd use it to as a final "Adios!" to Netflix for crapping on their loyal customers.

avatar

TommyO0O

I'll be streaming music vids of metallica tribute bands cranked up to 11, 11, 11

:-P

avatar

sunbears

Dude, I would so totally watch beavis and butthead on my rabbit eared TV from 1986. It would, like, make it suck less. Huh huh. Score.
