Problematic issues caused by AT&T’s cellular network are preventing the iPhone tethering plan from moving ahead, sources say. Testing for the service revealed a considerable amount of issues, ostensibly the result of an unstable cellular network.
Back in August, Apple and AT&T prepared to offer iPhone users the option to purchase an additional data plan that would allow wireless computers to connect through the handset’s 3G signal. Steve Jobs had confirmed this endeavor, adding that it was absurd no such service had existed before.
Any delays to the tethering service are ultimately a result of AT&T’s reluctance. The telecom giant is uncertain that the network could handle a hefty number of iPhone owners using the service at the same time.
