Turns out all the talk of waiting until the Apple iPhone SDK was released, was just that, talk. The iPhone Dev and iPhone Elite teams have again released a Windows only, jailbreak solution for the iPhone. A Mac version should be available soon. The jailbreak is availble for both, Mac and Windows.
The latest jailbreak comes nine days after Apple released 1.1.3 to the public. The teams did get a head start with 1.1.3 being leaked in late December.
If you feel the need to jailbreak your iPhone, we recommend waiting until any bugs are worked out by first adopters. No one wants a bricked iPhone.
Just to add, if you had

Just to add, if you had unlocked your iPhone with 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 there is a good chance that with the updated jailbreak, your Unlock will NOT be affected. I, for one, can confirm this with my own Jailbreak and unlocked 1.1.3 iPhone.

I bought the $20 apps so I was wondering if I downgrade to 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 and then upgrade will those apps be lost for good?
iPhone, not iPod Touch

If you paid 20 bucks for the apps, then you do not have an iPhone, you have an iPod touch. And I really don't know if this early JailBreak solution for 1.1.3 applies to the touch.

The 113 jailbreak doesn't touch the baseband so it is impossible to brick the phone.

I've used the newest version (I think it's 1.1.4) and it works very well with no problems.
