Apple Falls Short of 1000 Rentals, Swiss Ready for iPhone and Nike + iPod Coming to a Gym Near You

Dude, where's my rentals?: Steve told us to expect 1000 iTunes movie rentals by the end of February. He also said we would have the iPhone SDK in that time frame. Are the studios to blame for the lack of rentals or should Apple start checking iCal more thoroughly before making commitments.

Swiss iPhone: Swiss telecom, Swisscom, is expected to have the iPhone for its yodeling customers on April 4. Welcome to the party Switzerland.

Analysts predict 3G iPhone, days to be warmer during summer: Citigroup analyst, Richard Gardner has returned from Taiwan with good news. 3G iPhones should appear during the next quarter. This brings the analysts predictions of a 3G iPhone to about 4356.

GarageBand and Aperture updated: Apple updated GarageBand and Aperture yesterday afternoon. GarageBand brings improved stability, while Aperture addresses performance and stability issues.

Nike + iPod join gyms: Nike and Apple are joining forces with gyms to bring the Nike + iPod experience to cardio machines. The machines will have iPod nano docks that will track your workout and share that information with Nikeplus.com when you sync your iPod with your home computer.

An inconvenient non-vote: Proxy advisory firm, Glass Lewis & Co., are urging Apple shareholders to withhold votes for board members, Al Gore, Arthur Levinson and Jerome York. The firm is concerned with the board members roles in the recent options backdating issues.

I agree with Jason... I can't see why anyone would want to fork out so much money to rent a movie through iTunes. Seems like a big waste of money when there are much cheaper services through Blockbuster and Netflix! wet carpet dryinghdtv antennaflood damage repairdocument dryingwater damage colorado

Why would anyone consider paying so much just for a rental when they could just get it for free for much cheaper?

avatar

Play games

Why the hell would you cancel something that is free itself, does absolutely nothing to you except just exist there in case theres the chance you want to watch a movie that Blockbuster has and you cant get elsewhere and of course occasionally sends you coupons for 2 rentals for the price of one, except just to make the point that Apple TV has replaced your need for Blockbuster. This statement seems right out of an Apple script for marketing.

Maybe if Apple hadn't cut off all the 5th gen iPod owners then who knows, MAYBE they would have met their goal.....?

I'm sure there are more 5th gen owners that those who own iPod classics...

What, rentals cant play on the last generation of iPod???

JB

I think they are talking about 1000 titles, not actually 1000 downloaded rentals. But yes it does suck that us 5th Gen owners are left out. But I'm in Australia and we can't even buy movies or TV shows from iTunes or buy the iPhone, let alone rent movies. Sux to be us, I guess.
