Big money, no whammy: Apple's financial numbers helped propel its stock to a 6.5 percent jump at the open of trading on Tuesday. Apple posted a revenue of $6.22 billion and net quarter profit of $904 million. That's a lot of black turtle necks.

 

Beijing Apple Store: Apple plans on opening a store in Beijing by the summer. This is part of Apple's plan to open 40 new U.S. and international locations. Expect a Apple Store clone to pop up in Shanghai.

 

Vista phone: Microsoft is expected to release an update to Windows Mobile at CITA later today. This is allegedly Microsoft's answer to the iPhone's resounding success.

iTunes film distributor: Edward Burns, director of indie favorite "The Brothers McMullen," is forgoing the usual distribution channels and releasing his film, "Purple Violets," exclusively on the the iTunes Store.

 

Chem industry defends Apple: A chemical industry group is defending Apple against Greenpeace's accusation that Apple is packing the iPhone with dangerous chemicals.
