I was able to order the 32gb 4g ATT iPad online shortly after the keynote ended. Don't plan to use 4G a lot, but when I need it I'll have it. Resale value for the new Pad should be a huge plus down the road. To fund my 4S, I sold my almost 3-year-old 3GS on Gazelle for $150 (Paid $200 new). To me that says a lot about the resale value of any clean Mac product.

On the sales order, it's called an iPad 3.

Resale will be better for the 3, so I sold my iPad 2 and the upgrade cost me a $100, so it seems like a cheap way to have a new toy and I'll recoup some or perhaps all when I sell it. I can live without my pad for a few weeks.

I am a junkie. I pre-ordered the new iPad 32/4g. I am looking forward to developing some applications to take advantage of the incredible resolution!

As always, refurbs from Apple are another good option. iPads start as low as $299 for a first gen or $349 for a second gen, and there are higher capacity and 3G models available at discounts as well. As a first gen owner, it was an easy decision for my to get the new model.

YES! Thank you. Excellent point. I can't believe I forgot to mention refurbs. I'll add a sentence about that...

Thanks for one of the clearest comparisons of the iPad 2 and 3 I've read.

I'm thinking about getting an iPad (my very first one), I would go for the iPad 2 and save some money, if it wasn't for the limitation of 16GB, so I think I'm going to get the new iPad 32GB wifi

You could always find one on eBay! :) That's what I'm doing.

I think it's not compelling enough for iPad 2 owners. 1st gen iPad owners & those looking to buy their first iPad will be the likeliest customers. (Or iPad 2 owners handing down to family members..)

i was convinced i would save the 100 $ and get a ipad 2 and then next year get the revamped ipad :)
