Huh. iTunes knows about Pig Destroyer, but not Leonard Bernstein.

I just got my first iPod and want to get some of my CDs - some date back to the early to mid ’80s - into iTunes to get them on the iPod. I’m having a couple of problems: The genre is often wrong. Classical music can become pop or even rock. Can I edit this in iTunes? What about the song, CD, or artist name? My Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde conducted by Leonard Bernstein on CBS Masterworks shows up in iTunes in Kanji.

Let us introduce you to iTunes’ Info window. For your CDs that are missing from both the iTunes Store and CDDB (iTunes’ sources of track and album information), you can easily add or change all sorts of info: artist, album, composer, genre, and so on - and you can do it for multiple songs at once. Just select a track in the library, or Shift-click to select all the songs on an album, and select File > Get Info (or Command-I). In the multiple-track info window, changing any field will check the associated checkbox, indicating that iTunes will keep the changes.
