The nano pops into the silicone casing with ease, and its integrated control buttons make it easy for you to shuffle through songs without any fuss.

There's also an audio port cover to keep the Nano safe from dustmites, and if you drop your iPod you can ensure that'll it bounce back scotch-free. While it's not exactly the most pragmatic way to carry around your nano (it's not, after all, a watch), we like the irony.

HEX Slim Watch Band, $29.95, 3/5

This armband from Xtreme Mac is geared for extreme runners and jump rope enthusiasts, but wearing it feels like sticking your arm into one of those grocery store blood pressure machines. While it does stay on in even the most speedy of runs and hikes, it feels awkward especially with earphones plugged in. Put it up too far on your arm and you can feel the cord tugging.

The window to control the nano is a bit loose, which makes it hard to swipe the screen without pressing down on the plastic film. That means you'll have to stop halfway through your run to skip through that terrible Britney Spears song -- not convenient if you're legitimately training. You're better off clipping the iPod to your shirt collar.

It does have a nifty pouch for storing your house key, though...

Here's a shout out to all the little independent case companies out there. Proof is one of them, and their cases are just as durable as the rest of the major players in the case game. You iPhone slides in through the flexible plastic frame and the buttons are easy to access on either end. However, you'll have to take the case off if you want to dock it in a standard iPod or iPhone dock, which can be inconvenient.

Proof cases are perfect if you're just in the market for some affordable, solid color cases that protect your iPhone. And, they have specific cases for the Verizon iPhone, too.
