It's Fourth of July weekend! And you know what that means: the only reason you're reading this right now is because you're stuck in traffic and Maclife.com was the first site you thought of to check while moving a miserable 5 miles per hour. Well, here you go: four free iOS apps to keep you groovin' through Independence Day weekend -- and do spare a few minutes this weekend to remember your Founding Fathers.
If real Fireworks just aren't your thing, or you don't have any access to them where you are, why not play in the Fireworks arcade? This free app offers three different game modes that fully utilize the iPhone and iPad's multitouch capabilities. Every firework is totally unique, and you can tilt to control the gravity of the spark. Plus, there's Game Center integration.
Make delicious food stuffs this weekend with help from your iPad. Gourmet Live features a series of cooking shows updated periodically, and around this time there's plenty of Fourth of July grilling and cooking tips to help you make a fabulous summer meal.
This is a cute app: Create and share personal messages that you dry in the sky -- with fireworks! You can create full motion messages and send it to them via email, text message or on Facebook. The app features three different sky backgrounds, or you can use your own photos, six different "show" songs and 4th of July presets.
Because I know you're going to get bored at your obligatory Fourth of July barbecue, bust out the iPad and pretend your listening while solving these virtual puzzles. Best of all, there are no pieces to clean up!
