Free App Friday: Going Somewhere?

It is my belief that the best time to go on a winter trip is when everybody has about had it with winter trips. I'm talking about two weeks after the holidays, when all the hustle and bustle of the airports and highway traffic has been tamed by the fact that no one has any energy--or any money--to go anywhere.
So I'm out of here with my iPad, iPod touch and trusty MacBook Pro. Here are a few free apps I fired up for this occasion. I'll see you guys when I get back. Hopefully I have a tan.
Mac

If you like taking your GPS with you on vacation, then this free desktop app from the Mac App Store might be right up your alley. The HoudahGPS transfers track logs from a variety of GPS devices, like any of the USB-based Garmin, Magellan, and Wintec devices. It also works with GPSRecorder for iPhone if you're a trailblazer who tracks his treks.

Please, someone, help me get out of here. Actually, I think there's an app for that. Kayak can help you find a flight and hotel no matter where you're at. There's also a companion Flight Status iPhone app that can help you keep track of your plane's whereabouts, and get you to where you're going on time.

If you're not planning on retreating to far off, warmer lands, then perhaps an app depicting the latest mountain reports might better suit your needs. The official REI snow reporting app lets you know the conditions on your favorite mountain, so you and your fellow snow bunnies can hop over those moguls with ease.
