You know how the song goes: I get by with a little help from my apps. Your apps can help guide you through the levels of a difficult console game, learn to play an instrument, and keep time, just like your human friends would. Well, except for that last part--especially if you're trying to make it home by curfew. That never works out, so stop trying.

ProTimers

If you're just as bad at keeping time on that cake in the oven as I am (Do you have any idea how many cakes I've burned in the last six months?), you might need some heavy artillery to keep you accountable. Keep the countdown going with Pro Timers, which lets you keep 12 countdown timers and 8 stopwatches simultaneously. It's easy to use, pretty to look at, and you can manage a ton of stuff all at once. It's great for cooks, broadcast professionals and technicians, as well as anyone else who just needs some help keeping the time.

GuitarBuddy
I remember when I first attempted (actually, the only time I ever attempted) to learn the guitar I couldn't afford lessons so I bought one of those Guitar for Dummies books. Needless to say, not having an auditory reference of the sounds the guitar was actually supposed to make made it a bit difficult for me to learn the instrument and, well, I don't play the guitar for a reason. But you can! This free app can help you with your scales, finding chords and mastering the classics. While there aren't any songs to really practice, the app will help you understand how to read licks and understand the fretboard, as well as hear how the actual notes are played. A great tool for beginning rockers.

PowerFAQ

Stuck on a game? There are plenty of free PowerFAQ guides in the app store to help you get through the latest and greatest in console and iOS gaming. Currently, we're really stuck on the Pokemon edition of PowerFAQs. Because let me tell you: just because that Pokemon is wild doesn't mean it wants to get caught.
