We all use our iOS devices for a little more than keeping in contact with friends and surfing the web. Photo editing is one feature that has become ubiquitous among iPad and iPhone users. In today's Free App Friday, here are three apps for iOS that let you edit your mobile photos with flair. Plus, a Google Chrome app that enables you to transform your photos into vintage masterpieces without having to go through Instagram.

Don't want to deal with the social networking features of Instagram? Want to go off the radar and transform your photos into vintage classics for your own personal photo archive? BeFunky Photo Editor lets you emulate the same filter effects as Instagram but without the peer pressure of having to broadcast it to the world. You can crop your photos, get real-time preview thumbnails for each of the effects so you know what they look like before you select them, and even adjust various elements of the photo, like brightness, contrast and saturation. Of course, when you're all done you can decide whether or not to paste them to Facebook or Twitter. Or, uh, Instagram.

Looking to transform your plain photos into vintage delights straight from your desktop? If you're using Google Chrome, Pixlr-o-matic can facilitate. The app lets you choose from an array of filters, borders and effects. When you're finished, you can save your photo to the Cloud or on your desktop. You can also use your webcam to snap a photo and then customize it.

Someone piss you off? Cut them out of your life -- and your photos. Photo Rage lets you tear apart virtual photos and cut out those who've burnt the bridges between the two of you. Once you've passive aggressively rid of that person from your life, you can then post it to Twitter, Facebook, send a text message, or be really vindictive and send it to the email of the person you cut off ties with. Just don't tell them Florence from Mac|Life told you to do such a thing. Because, anyway, why would you do something so mean?

Speaking of cutting people out of your life, what about snipping video from last Friday's awful party foul? Splice now has a free version of its app for those quick edits you might want to do on your mobile video. The app includes a "drag-and-drop" interface, as well as the ability to purchase extra editing features.
