The time is now to plot out your plans for world domination. But before you go forth with lording over the 6 billion people that inhabit this earth, you'll need some practice so that you can come to expect the unexpected. We've rounded up a few apps that can help you take control of your own life--and the lives of others. Sure, you can't tap and touch the world into submission like you could in a game of Pocket God, but you can at least prepare by learning leadership and organization skills. Right?
Mac
MenuMeters

The first step to world domination is making sure that you've got complete control over your Mac. After all, if a world leader/dictator can't take control of his own computer, then what can he do?
MenuMeters is an application that monitors your CPU, memory, disk and network activity. Sure, there are a ton of programs that already do this, but this one is free and it runs from the menubar, rather than hanging out in a separate Finder window or taking up room in your Dashboard. Anyway, who the heck uses Dashboard anymore?
The application is open source, too, so if you do run into some problems you can contact the developers.
Bonus: Task Blocks
You can't take over the world without being organized. Use Task Blocks to help you schedule which countries you'll take over first.
iPad
GoSkyWatch Planetarium

There's a free version of this amazing iPad app, and it's perfect for the future World Leaders of the World to check out what's going in other parts of the galaxy, far, far away from what they call home base. GoSkyWatch Planetarium lets you easily and quickly identify and locate stars, planets, constellations and anything else that's going on in that fair galaxy of ours.
iPhone
FarmVille by Zynga

Say what you want about FarmVille addicts, but when the apocalypse happens and all that is left are a few scattered humans and tons of cows and empty land, they'll be the ones who figure out how to take advantage of the situation and "raise da crops" (get it? Like "raise da roof".).
Anyway. Zynga released a FarmVille app for the iPad and iPhone. It's free, it integrates with GameCenter, and it looks super nifty on either iOS device. You'll need a Facebook account to play the game, however.
