Free App Friday: Sharing is Caring
Here at Mac|Life headquarters, we believe that sharing is caring. That's right: every bit of news that we could possibly want our colleagues to be privy to, we shout it out loud from the industrial-sized soapboxes stashed away under our desks. And when we can't physically make proclamations here at the office, we do so with our Macs and iOS devices on the go. In this edition of Free App Friday, we're featuring three apps that'll help you get the word out about whatever it is you've got going on, and keep you in the know about your neighbor's agenda, too.
Mac

If you're a fan of independent music and homemade dance mixes, SoundCloud is a pretty nifty music service that gives you access to a ton of shared music. The desktop application is available in the Mac App Store and enables you to browse, listen to and favorite songs from a ton of rogue music makers. You can also use the record functionality, should you want to share your own melodic creations.
iPad/iPhone
The one thing that we really need more of in this world are social networking apps that share your location. Fortunaly, Gowalla has you covered on all fronts. It lets you share your location with friends on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Foursquare, so you'll never miss out on those precious badges. It also offers location tips for where you're at, all packaged within a very nifty looking user interface.
iPhone
Knocking Live Video
While FaceTime is all good and dandy, it doesn't work with your friends who aren't sporting iOS devices of their own. With Android and Windows Mobile 7 quickly stepping up in the game, why not get an app that'll help you keep in touch with that crowd as well? Knocking is a video streaming app that lets you, well, stream video to your friends. The app is totally free and, as aforementioned, works cross platform.
