Game Time: Hardcore

This week we're taking dedication to the next level. Anything that makes us want to use exclamation marks and talk like the dude in the Bowflex commercials is fair game this week, when we're whipping out the most hardcore games you've ever played. We take a look at Mortal Kombat (with fatalities! and blood!) to Line Surfer (get crushed by waves!) and then check out an extra secret contender that might just be the most hardcore game of all time. This week's Game Time is not for the feint of heart.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Warner Brothers
$0.99
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has been in the App Store for a while, but it recently received a huge update that had us reaching for our iPhones. In an update on June 16, Electronic Arts added 10 new characters, bringing the total playable characters up to a whopping 23, and 6 new arenas, meaning you can fight in 16 stages now. Oh, and did we mention it only costs $0.99?

You'll have to unlock the last three characters in-game, but even if you never can, 20 fighters is a friggin ton.
There's a ton of fan service here, and there's a variation of button layouts to appease the Mortal Kombat elite. All of it almost makes up for the fact that the screen fades to black when you execute fatalities. If you've ever even sort of liked Mortal Kombat, this is a dollar you must spend.

Line Surfer
Robert Szeleny
$0.99

Remember last week when we said Line Runner was the (hardest game of all time)? Well, we were wrong. Robert Szeleney has outdone himself with Line Surfer, a cruel, cruel game in which you must jump and spin and tilt within seconds of starting or you'll biff it.
We appreciate the added color of Line Surfer to Line Rider, but the extra difficulty is enough to make even the hardest of hardcore gamers weep. Our best score was 650, which means we were alive for like eight seconds. We're so embarrassed we won't even put it as our editors high score.

Google Latitude
Google
Free
The most hardcore of hardcore games requires you to actually physically do something. We can't think of a single thing more hardcore than getting off the couch.
How about traveling to the moon?

We know, we know. With Google Latitude you aren't *really* traveling to the moon, you're just gauging the distance you travelled. But seriously, if you don't mind giving one of the largest, questionably most evil companies constant access to your location (hardcore!) you can round up a group of friends and race them to the moon.
I'm doing that right now, and every trip I take is one more small step for mankind.
Plus, in an extra example of hardcoreness, you can log on to your account and see how your time is spent throughout the weeks, how much time you spend out, where you've been, and all sorts of other really badass facts.

Workaholic? The most hardcore!
What's the most hardcore you've ever played? Take to the comments to let us know (with lots of exclamation marks).
