Over the last two weeks we've gotten wind of a bunch of high-quality console games coming to iOS. This week was fairly similar, with console-quality games stealing the show. Hardcore gamers will be giddy to know that the classic console fighting game SoulCalibur is coming to iOS. While more seasoned gamers might be more interested to know that the masters of pinball games (Farsight Studios) are bringing an anthology to iOS soon as well.

Angry Birds Seasons Halloween Update Arrives

We swore off reporting on Angry Birds for the last few months (one can only read a story about how many millions Angry Birds has sold so many times before it ceases to be interesting), but now we’re rejuvenated and happy to report that the big Halloween update has arrived. The big deal with this new content pack is that it’s not just about the new levels that have been introduced. Rovio is also introducing an all-new bird to slay pigs with. The imaginatively titled “Orange Bird” can inflate itself with a single touch in-flight.

Order and Chaos Online Gets Hacked

If you’re one of the many players of Gameloft’s Order and Chaos Online, you may want to consider changing your login information. Gameloft announced recently that some accounts have been hacked, and user data has been compromised. However, this only affected the web version of Gameloft Live (the service that ties together Gameloft games) which is about 1% of users. As such, Gameloft has opted to just shut down the service. The number of users affected so far has been small.

  The Pinball Arcade

  There aren’t a lot of places for pinball fans to get their fix these days. It’s kind of sad, really. This gaming hobby once thrived in arcades and rec rooms around the world, but it’s been all but wiped out since.

  The Pinball Arcade combines over 50 of the best pinball tables ever made all in one app. And you don’t even have to pay a quarter for every play! If only they had something like this back in the 80s, gamers would have saved thousands of dollars. No price has yet been announced.

  The developer, Farsight, has worked on a number of pinball compilations in the past, so we’re sure they know their stuff (some of which are pictured in screens above as images of The Pinball Arcade are hard to come by at this early stage.)

  SoulCalibur

  There are few games that console gamers hold with as much reverence as SoulCalibur, and now it’s coming to iOS. Namco Bandai must have been intrigued by the rampant success of Street Fighter IV on iOS, as they are now bringing their own classic fighting game to the platform.

  SoulCalibur is a 1999 3D fighting game (which is to say, full 3D environments as opposed to SFIV’s 2D characters on a 2D plane) that features combatants battling it out with all manner of deadly weaponry. Though it’s not a blood or gore-heavy game there is plenty of slicing and stabbing.

  Fighting games have fared extremely well so far on iOS, though there aren’t many of them. Both Street Fighter IV and Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior were lauded at release. Hopefully SoulCalibur’s iOS port is up to the task of competing against such lofty competition.

  Years ago jet ski games were all the rage, but the years have been less than kind to this flash-in-the-pan genre. Though it peaked over fifteen years ago with the awesome Wave Race 64, we haven’t seen much from that genre lately.

  Riptide GP aims to change all of that. With awesome modern graphics and breakneck speeds, Riptide looks incredible. Once we saw this gameplay trailer we were utterly sold.

  This game takes our award for Most Anticipated Game of the Week (no offense to SoulCalibur or Pinball Arcade). Especially when considering the iPhone’s sterling reputation for racing games.
