Headlining this week’s cadre of awesome titles is the bizarre Pizza vs Skeletons, a game about a giant pizza squashing things and crushing entire buildings -- which is pretty much the most outstanding concept for a game we’ve ever heard. But that’s not all. We’ve also got details on rComplex, a stellar-looking Canabalt-esque platformer, and Valve’s new Steam iOS app.

Valve releases Steam Mobile on iPhone

Valve is one of the special few companies that is really doing both PC and Mac gaming right. And so when the company makes just about any move, we pay attention. Steam Mobile for iPhone (and Android) -- a handy portable portal into the popular downloadable games service -- dropped yesterday, though you'll need access to the ongoing mobile beta test to access its features at present. God of Blades Trailer Release for Mortal Eyes

We don’t typically post videos in this column, but you should still head on over to YouTube to take a gander at an exciting and atmospheric new iOS title called God of Blades. The trailer is not particularly heavy on gameplay, but it still looks like a promising game; and hopefully the next trailer will give us a bit more info on how it actually plays. The project originally started as a Kickstarter project that made its funding goal this December.

  Pizza vs Skeletons

  We haven’t heard a peep about the majestically bizarre Pizza vs Skeletons in nearly eight months, but now the developers say they’re close to releasing the game. Though PvS has no official genre, it’s basically about rolling a giant pizza around and crushing things. Its 10 different game modes range from a wrecking ball affair to a save-the-puppies mode.

  rComplex

  If you’ve ever played Canabalt then you’ll know pretty much what to expect from rComplex. It’s yet another infinite running high-score game, but this time with a unique twist: It actually has something of a story. You play as a man who is running for his life away from a horrifying tentacle monster.

  The hook is that you’ll slowly unlock the story of how your character came to be in this situation as you get further and further into the level. We’re hoping this adds just a little bit of extra incentive to keep training and beating high scores. We’re excited about the idea, and look forward to seeing how it turns out.

  Shogun: Rise of the Renegade

  The shoot-'em-up genre isn’t faring so well on iOS these days, so we like to throw a spotlight on promising games in the genre whenever we’re afforded the opportunity. And now that CAVE has sadly left the genre to develop social games, those opportunities are ever fewer and further between.

  Shogun is what’s called a “bullet hell” shooter, which essentially means what it sounds like: There are bullets virtually coating the screen trying to kill you. We love the genre, and Shogun looks wonderful, but CAVE's $10+ price tags always seemed a bit excessive. Here's hoping Shogun's developer can make this more palatable for the masses.
