It's September, the kids are back in school, the NFL is back on the air (GO PACKERS!), and since it's Friday we have another roundup of discounted iPhone and iPad apps for you -- including a free app for iPhone and iPad that can teach you all kinds of Man vs. Wild trickery. Happy Friday!

All the PopCap iPhone and iPad games are on sale until Sunday! Plants vs. Zombies HD, also known as my favorite tower-defense game of all time, is $1.99, for example, which is 70 percent off. The just-released Peggle HD is just $2.99, and the in-app purchase of the Peggle Nights expansion (which is totally worth it, as it pretty much doubles the amount of peggling you can do) is only 99 cents. The rest of their games are here, and everything's discounted, for both iPhone and iPad. Yay!

This clever iPad app is on sale for your favorite price -- free, down from $4.99. It makes a newspaper out of the links posted to your Twitter feed, updating every hour. You can also create topical newspapers around your interest using Twitter Lists or Twitter search. It's not quite as elegant as Flipboard, but since it's free you should definitely check it out...

This physics-based puzzle game for iPad has you, well blasting ragdolls around to solve Rube Goldberg-ish puzzles -- more than 150 puzzles, so this should keep you busy for quite some time... The iPhone version is currently free, down from $2.99, so grab it and blast away.

Think of this self-proclaimed military-grade survival manual as a Bear Grylls in your pocket. It can help you assemble a survival kit, provide advice on survival medicine, teach you shelter-building, fire-lighting, poison-plant-identifying, and tons more. Even if you never go outside, it's still fun to read. And the iPhone and iPad versions are both free.

We just reviewed Discovr Apps this week, and it's currently down from 99 cents to free. It's pretty amazing, letting you enter any app in the App Store and then see a branching cloud of related apps, which you can then tap to see MORE related apps, and hopefully discover something really cool. It's got a wish list and sharing features too. We love it, and for free...yeah, you should definitely get this. It's universal for iPhone and iPad.
