Nice article. I am Mac/Unix maven I read your tweets/columns often.

Two points:
One- you need only do chmod +x file.sh
In order to make a shellscript "executable".

777 is read-write-execute for all - too much

Two- in your article you switch to file.sh when you demo the chmod command.
Prior, you were using script.sh . You need to be consistent in order not to confuse newbies.



Thanks for reading! I have made the correction to the article, it was supposed to be chmod 700 instead of chmod 777.
