8 Essential Twitter Apps for Mac Users
|
You've signed up, you've made friends and now you're finally ready to stop using the Twitter web site to update your feed. For the new Twitter user, and seasoned veteran, we've assembled a list of Twitter apps we think you'll find useful.
OS X Clients

TweetDeck - Maybe you're little obsessive compulsive. Maybe you need to know everytime someone mentions your name, or the name of one of your friends on Twitter. Whatever the reason, for the ultimate in Twitter micro-managing TweetDeck should be your client of choice. The multi-columned app allows you save search queries, update your Facebook status, and contains a trends cloud so you know what Twitter is buzzing about at the moment.
Tweetie - Available on the iPhone for sometime, Tweetie arrived on desktops with its multi-account feature with a bang. The easy to use app gives Twitter users with multiple accounts the ability to view all those accounts quickly in one window. The app uses tiny dots to alert you of new tweets from all your accounts without being irritating.
Nambu - This app is still in beta, but we had to mention it. If you take the columns of TweetDeck and the ability to have multiple accounts from Twitter, you get Nambu. It still needs some work, but it's on the road to becoming a the king of the desktop Twitter world.

iPhone Clients
Tweetie - The official go-to-app for the iPhone. Multiple account support, clean UI, trends and of course, a flashlight. While these features are available in a multitude of other Twitter apps, Tweetie brings it all together in a nice package.
Twitterific 2.0 - Twitterific was one of the first iPhone Twitter clients available. It did exactly what was expected at the time. Since then the app had stagnated and was passed by new comers like Tweetie. Well Twitterrific burst back on to the scene with Twitterific 2.0, a full featured update to the app with all the features needed to compete with Tweetie and Twittelator Pro.
La Twit - Sure it sound like someone is making fun of you in Spanish, but who cares when you have copy and paste. La Twit isn't as refined or pretty as Twitterific or Tweetie, but it has the same features and URL copy and paste. Share URLs of your favorite sites directly from your iPhone to your Twitter feed.

Fun with Twitter

Twistori - This mesmerizing website has an OS X screensaver that culls tweets with the words Hate, Love, Think, Believe, Feel, Wish. What you end up with is a feed that'll have you, and your cubicle neighbors, staring at your screen for hours.
SpreadTweet - News flash. Your boss is not a fan of Twitter. We don't know why, it's a team builder right? Whatever. If you just need to get your Twitter fix, but you can't be caught with a proper Twitter client running, check out SpreadTweet. The Twitter client looks just like everyone's favorite spreadsheet application.

My eyesight is horrible (-5.25 and -6.25). I used to wear contacts, but switched to glasses last year. I like wearing glasses, but I don’t like not being able to see anything when they are off. So I’m considering a Lasik laser .
Has anyone had any real experience with LASIK they want to share? Were you happy you did it? Not? What is the experience really like?

I really had no idea there were so many great Twitter apps. I've bookmarked this page for future reference.
So many apps and so little time to try them out. I'll have no time left over for my car tuning hobby!

I really love the spreadtweet. I came across a blog talking about making money on twitter, that was very interesting. It has 201 Twitter Tools and Twitter Apps.
It's a free pdf download on his blog here

Best client I've ever used for iPhone. Tweetie is good, but it can be overkill. TwitterFon has everything I need. I use Twitterific for the Mac, and it's great.
