In Case You Missed It: July 4 - July 10

We trust you didn't blow off any fingers or -- even worse -- limbs this 4th of July weekend? Good. Neither did we. Our fingers were too busy flying over the keyboard, trying to keep up with everything happening in your Mac life. Hey, that's a catchy phrase, someone should use that.
Features:
- Hot Future Tech Coming to Your Mac, iPhone and iPad - Boy, these are some doozies. We haven't been this excited for the future since we were promised jetpacks by 2000. We're talking real solar power, energy beamed through air, fiber optic insides for computers, OLED flat screen TVs, and more. If you like your tech cool (and you wouldn't be here if you didn't), then you're going to love this stuff.

- Are Widgets Dead? - In which we attempt to answer the question of whether or not anyone really uses those little memory gobbling bits of code to get movie times and provide us a quick calendar and tell us the phases of the moon. The answer? Weeeelllll...it all depends.
How-Tos:
- How To Shoot and Edit iPhone 4 Videos with iMovie - I think YouTube better be prepared for a new wave of business as pairing up the iPhone 4 with the iMovie app means we're going to see a lot, and we mean a lot, of new films shot, cut, and ready to go on the fly. Meanwhile, for the amateurs out there, we make sending grandma a video card a little easier.
- iPhone and iPad Tips of the Week - The biggest gripe we heard from reluctant-to-switch Blackberry users was that they'd miss out on the tactile keyboard. Well, you probably won't carry a Bluetooth keyboard as many places as your iPhone, but you can hook these two together for a smooth typing experience.
Reviews:
- The iPhone 4 Review - What? Did you think we weren't going to chime in with our two cents on the greatest handset on the market today? With so many features, we had to settle for just some of the best ones we found, the biggest perks as it were. Awesome sometimes seems like too small a word.
- iOS Game Time - Get your thumbs ready for some gaming, because we've got the latest and the greatest iOS games from the App Store all queued up and ready for you to download. Just take our warning to heart: you will be shooting things.
News:
If it weren't the iPhone or if it weren't for all the death grip stories of last week, this tale of a handset that caught on fire might not seem like such bad news; we'll be glad if there aren't any more like it...meanwhile, more like this please. It seems the good folks at fring have figured out a way to bring video calling to 3G, so how you like those apples, FaceTime?...although, the question remains: would you let your doctor diagnose you through FaceTime? We're not sure how comfortable we are personally, but we know we'll be seeing more and more of this in the future...speaking of more, let's hope Apple can get more, more iPhones, that is; seems when supply exceeds demand you run out, dont'cha know...although the next time around, it might be a little pricier to buy the iPhone 5, as vendors in China have decided to start paying their workers a few more bucks; good for them, we say...one thing we will guarantee, expensive or not, iPhones will be pretty always, just like this new white model, finally out on the street...you know who else is out on the streets? Ghosts! Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and Clyde are out to get PacMan on your new iPhone 4 wallpaper; you know you want it...do you want one of these cases for your iPhone 4, though? We're not so sure ourselves...but as far as we can tell, what people do want is an iPhone on Verizon, so much so we never will hear the end of rumors; to help sort fact from fiction, we've distilled it all down into a handy chart you should print, clip out, and carry on your person at all times.
We suspect more and more people will carry their iPads on their person at all times, especially if they're as mixtastic as DJ Rana Sobhany...and if making music on your iPad is your kind of thing, then Looptastic will make you as mixtastic as DJ Rana (in your dreams)...at least you can tweet about your dreams, if that makes you feel any better with Twitterlator's decent iPad version that should do some nicer things with all that extra room...in nice news, it's good to see that corporate iPad usage is going up up up; now if only we could get one of those jobs...our calendar is wide open for that kind of thing, especially now that we have the incredibly gorgeous new Calendar app for MobileMe...and as long as they went and updated the Calendar, Apple decided to give iPad users a little iDisk support to boot...iBooks has a gorgeous interface as well, but it seems like Microsoft might have gotten there first with a patent, at least if grudge-wielding Gizmodo is any judge of patent law (answer: no)...and as far as measuring eyes, it turns out the iPad smokes the Kindle on readability, while both lose out on speed reading to the real deal...what you will want to keep your eye on is 3D gaming on the iPad as we hear it might just be around the corner...so what are people doing on their iPads? Games? Productivity? Mixing music? Turns out someone wanted to know, so they looked into it and even made us a pretty graph to go with it...we're sure watching video will rise in the ranks if Hulu ever did do an ad free version.
For your television and movie needs, while we all wait on Hulu, rumor has it the next generation of Apple TV will feature 99 cent streaming TV shows; be still our hearts...be still our pop stars. Prince declares himself massively out of touch when he declared the internet was "over." What can we say? He still parties like it's 1999 and GeoCities is rockin...long live the internet! Firefox 4's beta is out the door for any old body who might want to take a gander...and hopefully people might put that software on one of these internetty kind of devices, since Apple is reporting an uptick in their sales to the tune of 35%...we suppose props for this goes to these two guys that Fortune magazine said were part of the most brilliant people in tech. Know who's not on that list? Certain purple clad rockers from Minneapolis, that's who.
