Topo Maps for iPad is one of the better mapping apps I've found. One can d/l full topo quads, and use the GPS on your iPad to navigate. I used this to navigate near Canyonlands, UT and it worked great.

Ask the butcher which is brilliant and fastmall which I will use on my trip to my uncles house. We will be going to the Aventura mall and I cannot believe how helpful this app is to locate stores, get deals and find the nearest bathroom! I also see you can check in which I will be doing, its so much fun to use these types of apps.
