17 iOS 4.3 Features, Tips, and Tricks

It's here, it's here! iOS 4.3 dropped and it's ready for your iOS devices. But like most Apple updates, the update is full of features that Apple either doesn't advertise, or can be difficult to find if you don't spend the day rummaging through an entire iOS device's menu system.
Lucky for you, we did just that.

Does anyone know why I don't have the house icon next to library on my iPad? I updated everything and I have home sharing setup so I don't know what the problem is.
Thanks

I guess I must've missed something, but "Clock" doesn't seem to be around anymore on my Touch after the 4.3 update. It's not that it's some sort of wonderful or die without app, but I sort of miss not having it around. Sure I've replaced it with something else, but I wonder what I did or didn't do. Can anybody tell me? Where art thou? (that means the app and not you people!)

My iPad 1 or my iPhone 4 won't find my libraries of either of my macs. How can I go back on my iPad and iPhone to upgrade again. I have a Mac book pro and a 24 in iMac. I updated both with the first iTunes update, but don't remember if I upgraded the second upgrade before I did the iPhone upgrade. The screen lock upgrade works on iPad. I share my library with 5 airport express around my house for a few years now, with airfoil I can share audio on any device, but video sharing on my iPad would be cool. Thanks

IOS 4.3 really streaming photos, videos and more quicker from Mac to Apple TV. Don't know why I was under the impression that we could stream from iPhone to iPad and vice-versa.

Maybe a bug in the new Airplay, Using my iPad 1, just ran a video podcast thru my Apple TV, worked OK, then when i quit my iPod app it kept running. Thought that's odd, so reopened the iPod app and selected changed the Airplay setting to iPad, but had no effect. So then wend and tried to run a different Video Podcast on the iPad and low and behold. Has two different Videos running at the same time. One on the Apple TV and One on the iPad. Not so sure how you can put this odd feature to any benefit. however...

I wasn't able to photo share from my iMac to my iPhone 4 too. So I'm guessing it doesn't exist if there has been no update on it...
UPDATE: Didn't read the fine print. iPhoto HomeSharing only works on the Apple TV.

Nice list of tips&tricks, haven't update to iOS 4.3 yet, seems should update at once! AS iOS 4.3 looks to have interesting albeit far from numerous changes thus far. Since we’re only covering what’s new and improved, also read a list of walkthroughs for those new to iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad that can learn about all the established features: ifunia.com/news/ios-4-3-beta-for-iphone-ipad-walkthrough/

Fedcis09, not sure if this answers your question but I only see music related items in when I'm in iPod mode. However, when I went Video mode, I saw the my shared iTunes library there. Hope that helps.

The Notes app now syncs notes with your e-mail account; at least, in my extensive tests, it syncs notes with my GMail account. I don't think it did this before.

Thanks for your help with the iOS 4.3 setup. The only problem I have is sharing photos. I've set photo sharing preferences in iTunes to 'share all' from iPhoto, but I'm not clear on how to make them show up on iOS devices. I open the Photos app on the devices and get nothing. Help me if you can, Thank you.
Update: As of 3/9/11 at 4:00pm CST I've been told by Apple tech support that there is no photo sharing in iOS 4.3. This is a great product even without photo sharing. But is anyone sharing photos? Thanks again.

I can't say for sure, but I think the "Choose Photos to Share…" menu item is for AppleTV. I've got the Verizon phone, so only have 4.2.6, but I had to use the "Photos" tab in iTunes to sync to my iPhone.

The "Erase Data" has been there for as long as I know. I started using it at least a year ago. Not new. You guys just started to notice it.

You are correct. Not sure how I missed it when 4.2 was released. Oh well, it's still a cool feature for those of us that missed it the first time.

OK...so it finds my Mac share, but not my Windows home server share. It used to find it in the remote and now that doesn't work either. My Mac sees it though.
