In Case You Missed It: Apr. 3 - Apr. 9

Spring has sprung and so the young's fancy turns to iPhones, at least according to one study we read this week. iPhones and iPads both, and the only reason we think they're not dreaming of iPods is because they already have them. And that, folks, is how you build a mobile empire. Let's see how that's working out for Apple, as far as apps and sales and hype and all the rest are concerned, just in case ya missed it this week.
Features:

- What the iPad 3 Could Be Like a Year From Now - There were plenty of rumors to spare when it came to the iPad 2, and it's never too early to get started on your iPad 3 rumors. We don't have any rumors, actually, but we do have some educated speculation, a wish list, and our dreams. So let's sit back, close our eyes, and let residual reality-distortion wash over us with beautiful visions of what could be.
- How To Master Windows Virtualization On Your Mac - It's been a while since we turned our backs on Windows, yet there are some things, like QuickBooks and some computer games, that just are better -- and you have no idea it how much it pains us to say this -- on Redmond's operating system. So, if you're the kind that's brave of heart and says your prayers by night, you might just be able to stomach the blasphemy that is a virtualized Windows environment on your beautiful, precious Mac.
Reviews:
- Zen Viewer HD Review - There's an app for that and an app for that and an app for that. It's a pain trying to remember which app you downloaded for which format. Zen Viewer HD tries -- and succeeds almost entirely -- in being the go-to app for viewing every file under the sun. And it even lets you record audio to boot. If it were a ring, we might just have to toss it into Mount Doom.

- Monty Python's Cow Tossing HD Review - La vache! If that phrase means anything to you, chances are you've spent more than a little time watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail and this might just be the game for you. While you're the insulting French in this scenario tossing the barnyard denizens, you can get your Angry Birds style action without anyone calling your mother a hamster.
How-Tos:
- How To Set up VNC on Your Mac For Remote Viewing on iOS Devices - LogMeIn Ignition is a great way to remotely access your computer from your iOS device. If you do that often enough, the price is more than justified. But what if you're one of those people who only need that kind of power once in a while? We've got a solution: sure, it's not as easy as LogMeIn, but it's free and it works, and -- hey, we got your back here -- the steps aren't as hard as you think.

- How To Optimize Your Print Settings - Macs are all about making things "just work" and that's all fine and good, until it isn't. And by isn't, we're talking about something that has had us pulling our hair out on more than one occasion. If you've ever decided you wanted to change up your print settings, you've discovered that sometimes Steve Jobs' penchant for simple can make you want to throw your Mac out the window. Easy there, tiger, we've figured it out and believe us, you're going to want to bookmark this one.
News:
Right out the gate, the biggest news around these parts is that the iPhone Dev-Team has at last cracked iOS 4.3.1 with an untethered jailbreak...so are those rumors about an iOS 4.3.2 dropping in a couple weeks just rumors or has Apple stepped up the cat-and-mouse part of their operation?...in other long-standing mystery news, it appears that the white iPhone, the Moby Dick of the iOS world, has now been removed even from the Apple online store's memory, a ghost that wasn't there...what did update and didn't? Well, it was the Facebook iPhone app, which brought new functionalities, but still didn't bring along it's big brother, an iPad version of the app; c'est la vie...an app that we (and the developers) are glad to see finally appear like a magic act is TrapCall, competitor for Google Voice's crown as king of App Store Review Hell, as this blocked number unblocker spent 201 days languishing...it didn't take long for PopCap to land their first new app from their edgier spin off label right straight in the rejection pile and wow that was quick.

With spring in the air (and in our sinuses) what more could we ask for then big fat juicy updates that let us stay indoors and glued to our devices? How about some attachable iPad joysticks? How's that for starters...if watching's more your style, then the Vimeo app might just do the trick, although it's real strength is as a video editor...wait, what's that now? Edit video on the Vimeo app? Now just how would we do that, smart guy? Easy, just like this...speaking of video, ever since Apple let loose the AirPlay action, apps have been snatching up some of that goodness, and here's a few we like that've really taken advantage of the space...because you know wireless and the cloud is where it's at and where it's gonna be tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, like cloud streaming your music, except there's tons of services out there and you can't be expected to know which one's the best, which is where we step in... because once you start rockin on the GarageBand app, you're going to definitely want a cloud place to store your jams to show off later.
