We're in a lull, people. It's not technically winter anymore, though on some days looking outside, we'd be hard pressed to say it's spring. Cold drizzly rain traps us inside with our gear and our gadgets, but the iPad 2 is weeks old already (le sigh) and there's no new Apple hardware on the horizon. Heck, we aren't even into "heated rumor" season yet. We're just...in a lull. So while we rest and recuperate, let's have a gander at what's upcoming, what's just been released, and what's in development, in case you missed it.
Features:
- Mac OS X 10.7 Lion: What To Expect - Apple's iOS-inspired refresh to their desktop operating system is just a few short months away from hitting the stores and slowly they've begun pulling back the curtain on what we can expect. Improvements abound such as Mission Control, or as we like to call it Expose done right. And there's tons more.

- iOS 5: What to Expect - And as long as we're talking OS revamp, what can we expect when we get our hot little hands on Apple's newest mobile operating system? We've got a wishlist and number one with a bullet is a totally redone notification system. The old one worked when you didn't get that many notifications, but our increasingly social media drenched world has jam packed our on-screen pop-ups. Fix this, and you've performed miracles.
Reviews:
- Notability Review - Let's be honest here. Apple makes some great products and some great software, but the notes app is not one of them. In fact, it pretty much downright sucks big time. This has led, predictably, to a huge number of note pad alternatives in the App Store. Notability might just be the app that replaces the iPad notes app with functionality that puts Apple to shame.

- App Showdown: Comic Book Readers - Look up in the air, it's a bird, it's a plane! NO! It's just two comic book reader apps in a fight to the finish. Who gets your coin and the rights to all your back issues of Little Lulu? That big screen of the iPad is just crying out for your comics. So what are you waiting for?
How-Tos:
- How To Take A Screenshot on Your Android Device Without Rooting it - For some reason, why we don't know, Android phones lack the simple ability to take screenshots. This ridiculous oversight is no friend of the tech writer (or anyone else for that matter). The solution, rooting your phone, are fraught with peril, yet we can help resolve that for you. So, Dark Siders, take a walk with Mac|Life and we'll make it all better.

- How to Transfer Files From Your Mac to Your iPhone Using LogMeIn Ignition - LogMeIn Ignition might just be the very best way to transfer files from your desktop to your iOS device. If you're new to the service or you're curious about how it works, we walk you through the magic, step by step.
News:
Well, that didn't take long, eh? no sooner did Apple announce WWDC 2011...then it was sold out...to commemorate this yearly event, we put together a gallery of the very best WWDC moments from the last 28 years of the conference...but the big question is, will this conference be a lead in to the iPhone 5? We typically get those in June, you know...will we see iOS 5? Just a preview? If the rumors are true, our favorite mobile operating system's latest release might be moving to the fall...speaking of rumors, what about the one about Sony supplying an 8MP camera for the iPhone 5? Sounds sweet to us...and all this talk about new hardware lets us note that old hardware, specifically the original iPad, is getting rare on the ground...and bringing us full circle with new camera related software likely to be seen at WWDC on some new hardware, Adobe's been showing off a sweet tablet version of Photoshop on the new iPad. Now that's sweet.

Speaking of camera apps, here's two that go in radically different directions. First there's 8-bit Pocket Camera that takes us back tot he days of low resolution digital photography from the days when the Game Boy had one...then there's 100 Cameras in 1 that packs in the filters, just as the name says, giving you an immense number of options for making photographic art...and maybe Instagram is late to the game here bringing Tilt-Shift to the masses, but it's a pretty slick variation...but maybe cameras aren't really your speed; there's always dropping knowledge with the concise version of the Encyclopedia Britannica...or you're more of a gastronome, may we recommend Appetites? It goes well with a nice chianti and some fava beans...and if photography, book learnin', and chefery aren't your cup of tea, then how about these 8 alternatives to Nintendo's 3DS? There, now that's better.
