At long last it arrived. Multitasking on the iPad showed up in iOS 4.2, and all we had to give up for it was the ease of the orientation lock button above the volume rocker. There were plenty more goodies too, and let's not forget other news about other Mac stuff, all of which was covered by the turkey (and tamale) stuffed gang at Mac|Life.
Features:
- Holiday Travel Made Easy With iOS Apps - We got your planes, trains, and automobiles right here with apps that make your holiday travel a little easier to organize and schedule. We might be past the Turkey Day hump, but that doesn't mean we're anywhere close to done. The only thing we left out was John Candy's socks and undies.
- Go with the Vinyasa Flow - Not everyone packs portable workout equipment or has the time or the money for a gym membership, but yoga pretty much only requires your body and some know-how. If you've been feeling a bit sluggish from tryppin this weekend, here's a few yoga apps to clear the chakras or at least help you fit back into your fat pants. No, your smaller fat pants.
How-Tos:
- 22 iOS 4.2 Tips, Tricks and Features - There are tons of new features to get happy about in Cupertino's latest iOS update, but how do you access them and what are they all about? Fear not, kids -- as if we'd let you down. You know you just have to wait around for dear old Uncle Mac|Life to give you the 411 on the App Tray and printing and new text tones and wow, we could go on and on here.

- How To Set Up Free Find Your iPhone (Even on Unsupported Devices) - The one thing I think all of us poor saps who didn't shell out for MobileMe really wanted from the app was the ability to find our lost or stolen iOS devices. With all the free cloud storage out there, 99 bucks seemed a steep price to pay for this helpful bit of software, and apparently Apple heard our prayers because with iOS 4.2, Find My iPhone has gone free.
Reviews:
- Irradiated Software Cinch Review - Sometimes, all you want from a piece of software is that it perform its one main trick flawlessly. You don't want a buggy, bloated piece of software with 87 additional capabilities. And sometimes you need to manage all your open software with something that's simpler and more intuitive than Apple's Spaces. Enter Cinch.
- Best Case Scenario - iPod touch 4G Cases for the Masses - If you have any sense, one of the first things you do once you get your iPod or iPhone is to slap a case on it -- you know, protect your investment. But there's about eighty gazillion different cases out there and you don't have the time to buy them all, test them all, and return all but one. So that's why we do the testing for you. Griffin, Incipio, and Speck, three of the biggies in cases, get the treatment this time around.
News:
All right, so iOS 4.2 wasn't the only software we got all touchy feely with. We also gave Google Voice a regular TSA-strength pat-down and came away impressed, especially at the price of free...then Civilization V for the Mac arrived and we forgot about calling anyone ever again...but we did have to add a signature here and there to our PDFs, as usual, so we used PDF Expert from Readdle...and earlier we mentioned the new, free Find My iPhone app, but did we mention the scores of new, free Find My Groceries apps on their way?...well, of course, we couldn't stop you, if games were more your style, especially after we heard of a huge Pop Cap sale, friends....even better? how 'bout being one of the gunners on the Millennium Falcon...or if you'd rather something a little newer, there's always grabbing another piece of the sci-fi-pie with Going Rogue, in which you create your own superhero and more and while game playing is most everyone' cuppa tea, there's game creation also which Game Salad offers make-yer-own versions...and we'd be remiss, in that same vein, if we didn't mention that World of Goo was likewise on its way, this way slopping itself over the the iPad...but we're starting to get the impression that you're a smart cookie when it comes to shopping (after all, you *are* a Mac|Life reader), so we'll pass along this one, the Amazon "Price Check" app that is supposed to find the best deal on products you take pictures of.
