Too much window business
You're navigating the Finder working on an important project. You're opening folder after folder. Next thing you know, your knee deep in folders.
Instead of clicking on each folder or using Command-W (⌘-W) to close them, use Command-Option-W (⌘-Option-W) to close all the windows at once.

You can also Option-Click either the red button or yellow button and it applies to all windows.

For the love of God, if you are doing any kind of serious Mac file management involving multiple folders DO NOT use the Finder, it is the worst piece of garbage in OS X. Path Finder is the way to go, it has tabs and solves this problem. Is saving $35 worth the pain of using the Finder? Of course most Mac users are perfectly happy using any product with an Apple logo on it, so most will continue suffering with Apple's useless "file manager". Anyone satisfied using the Finder might as well switch to Windows while they are at it, if they are so happy to use garbage.

Different pieces of software work for different people, some people prefer OS X, some prefer Linux, some prefer windows, don't bash those of us who use the Finder just because you find it inadequate for your needs.
