Apple settles with Burst: Apple ponied up $10 million to settle a patent infringement case with Burst. Considering that $5.4 million of that will pay for Burst's legal fees, Apple got a pretty decent deal.
QuickTime vulnerability: The United States Computer Emergency Readines Team (who knew that branch of the US Dept. of Homeland Security existed?) has issued an alert regarding a QuickTime vulnerability. The vulnerability is known to affect Windows. Its affect on Mac OS X is unknown.

Free shipping? How is this news? I don't know about the US, but the canadian apple store has free shipping 365 days of the year for orders over $49... and really, how much is sub 50 bucks at the apple store...

Question == Why would the reception problem in the UK be any different than in the US ???
Answer -- it ISN'T -- there were hundreds of posts in the apple.com discussion forums when they came out about antenna problems. Apple, in every single instance, instantly swapped them out for new ones at the Apple Store. Without officially acknowledging the problem, they unofficially "fixed it". That sort of out of the box failure happens with every single phone out there - it's just media jumping all over the particular iPhone because they think it makes "good news."
The big issue in the UK is that with a total of only 12 Apple Stores in the entire country, people can't just bring their phone into an Apple Store for a genius to swap it out.
I expect these types of problems to be even larger when the phone rolls out in countries that has even less access to Apple Stores and Genius Bars.

Apple don't stand a chance if they release an even slightly flawed iPhone into the Japanese communications market. No surprise to see it will be released here after mistakes have been made elsewhere.
