We can only hope Commissioner Gordon’s mustache and glasses will be added in a future update.

If you have an appetite for destruction like Bane and Catwoman, Action Movie FX (Free, iPhone) lets you add big-budget movie mayhem like missile strikes, car crashes, and more to short video clips. Watch the world burn, and then save the results to Facebook, Twitter, or your Camera Roll for editing in iMovie. Four effects are included, but you can buy additional sets of two for $0.99 each.

Police scanners are for everyone in the App Store era. Emergency Radio ($0.99, iPhone) lets you quickly find nearby stations or pick from an international list to listen to live police, emergency, and weather service dispatches. You can mark stations as favorites, stream over AirPlay, and learn definitions of the codes used. Oddly enough, we can’t find the code for a giant bat sighting.

Check out Batman: Arkham City Lockdown ($5.99, Universal). Its gorgeous graphics put you in Batman’s boots as you tap and swipe your way through Gotham’s underbelly, upgrading your skills and delivering more than a few uppercuts to street-level thugs and bosses like the Joker.

Quick getaways and nick-of-time arrivals are vital, even outside Gotham City. Built-in turn-by-turn directions are coming to Maps with iOS 6, but MotionX GPS Drive ($0.99, iPhone) is here today and hard to beat. It includes 30 days of free voice-assisted navigation, after which service requires in-app subscriptions starting at $2.99 a month.
