There really is an app for everything -- including an official Times Square app to keep tabs on the most famous New Year's Eve countdown in the world. It's a little cheesy, but this year no one with an iPhone will have to miss the ball dropping!

Yelp (Free)
Full of peer reviews, Yelp is our go-to app when we need an opinion on something. While folks can be unnecessarily nitpicky at times, it may help you avoid a few sketchy bars and clubs you'd rather not visit.

Facebook (Free)
You probably already have this one, but it's so essential for keeping tabs on your friends and announcing where you're at. If you aren't doing so already, use Facebook to coordinate your New Years Eve plans!

Clubzone (Free)
While functionally similar to the Nightlife app, Clubzone lets you hone in on nearby events in several major cities, as well as buy tickets, get on guest lists, and see photos for clubs. You can organize the whole night in one spot.

Uber (Free)
No one should be drinking and driving on New Year's Eve, so cabs may be the easiest and best alternative. Uber makes hailing a cab uber easy by allowing you to do everything (including ordering, payment, and tip) via this handy app.

Cocktail Catalog Drink Recipes ($0.99)
Staying in for the evening? Amuse yourself and your guests by making some fancy cocktails. The Cocktail Catalog is a thoughtfully designed app that makes bartending easy, and is loaded with ideas for delicious new beverages.
