In our latest iOS games news roundup, we're highlighting the recent release of the free expansion/update for top shooter Shadowgun, as well as the debut of the Law & Order: Legacies crossover game and the quick rise and fall of the iMAME emulator app. Flip through the gallery images below for more!
Shadowgun Expansion Now Available
You may remember Shadowgun as the ridiculously gorgeous Unreal Engine 3 game that we’ve been posting about periodically over the past several months. Originally released in the fall, this Gears of War-alike now has an expansion pack for those of you who have been enjoying the high-res slaughter. The free expansion adds four new levels, plus a fresh weapon, and a previously unseen enemy type to blast to bits. Maybe that doesn’t deserve the title “expansion” (more like “free update”), but we’ll let them call it whatever they want as long as it doesn't cost us anything.
iMAME Removed from App Store
iMAME was up so briefly we didn’t even get a chance to mention it in one of these columns while it was live (though we managed to snag it for ourselves). Though this emulator app didn’t include any high-profile games -- users must provide their own ROMs -- iMAME was yanked from the App Store after only a couple days. Many classic gaming fans had their fingers crossed that iMAME might be the first emulator to permanently pass Apple's certification process and allow arcade classics to be played on the iPhone. But Apple's expected redo was swift indeed.
