Syphone archives all of your iPhone’s text messages on your Mac, and lets you export them into other formats as well.
For three months, I’ve been using my iPhone to exchange romantic text messages with a new girl that I met, and I want to keep them for posterity. However, my iPhone keeps telling me that I need to free space by deleting text messages, even though I have plenty of space available. Is there any way I can keep these beautiful messages?
Someone at Apple must have starry eyes too, because you’re now in luck! With the recent iPhone 1.1.3 software update, the number of texts that you can store increased dramatically, from 1,000 to 75,000.
And if that’s not enough, a few programs will let you archive every SMS message from your iPhone onto your Mac in a searchable iChat-like threaded view. Micromat’s Syphone (free, www.micromat.com) and Mark/Space’s The Missing Sync for iPhone ($39.95, www.markspace.com) are two such programs. Additionally, The Missing Sync for iPhone lets you sync your notes from your iPhone back to your Mac, and gives you a complete call history on your Mac, too. And remember: It’s not a real relationship unless you see each other in person sometimes.
