How can I download YouTube videos on my computer?

Though there are several ways you can download YouTube videos, one of the easiest ways is to visit www.youtubex.com. Paste the URL of the video you want to save into the blank Download field on YouTubex.com and then click Download video (a pop-up ad will appear). Once the site retrieves your video, click the Download link. (YouTube videos use the FLV, or Flash Video, format, so make sure to add the .flv extension to the end of the file names. To view FLV files, download Automagic Software's free flvThing
Your video will eventually appear down here once the script finishes running.
To download YouTube videos to your iPod, try PodTube ($4.99, demo version available). Just download the app and fill up your iPod.

I converts videos to work on an ipod, quicktime, WMP - blah, and if it is just the music you want use their mp3 option........oh yeah and its freequality stays great as long as it wasn't really detailed to begin with.
it says beta but I have used it for maybe a year and couldn't be happier with it.

When you have a vid open in Safari, open the Activity window. Scroll to a file that is bigger than the rest. Option-double click it to download. Should be downloading a file called Get_video. Just rename it in Finder.
For free conversion, use QuickMix (Google it), import it, and Sae As movie to make a QuickTime file.
All this is complicated at first, but it's free.

Yeah, I find that downloading the get_video in the activity window is the quickest way. Then I just pop it into iSquint to convert either for iPod or TV.

or if you are using firefox there are several addons that can do the same thing at the puch of a button. "dowloadhelper" is on that works great for me. than you can convert it for ipod using isquint (free) or visualhub ($30).

to download youtube.com videos, I use some software called TubeTV. It's on the apple downloads site and is completely free. The catche is it's mac-only software, which, you should be a mac user anyway

I have found mediaconverter (www.mediaconverter.org) and is really quick and usefull for Youtube videos converting and download, I think much quicker than vixy.net

YouTubeRobot.com today announces YouTube Robot 2.0, a tool that enables you to download video from YouTube.com onto your PC, convert it to various formats to watch it when you are on the road on mobile devices like mobile phone, iPod, iPhone, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune.
YouTube Robot allows you to search for videos using keywords or browse video by category, author, channel, language, tags, etc. When you find something noteworthy, you can preview the video right in YouTube Robot and then download it onto the hard disk drive. The speed, at which you will be downloading, is very high: up to 5 times faster than other software when you download a single file and up to 4 times faster when you download multiple files at a time.
Manual download is not the only option with YouTube Robot. You may as well schedule the download and conversion tasks to be executed automatically, even when you are not around. Downloading is followed by conversion to the format of your choice and uploading videos to a mobile device (if needed). For example, you can plug in iPod, select the video, go to bed, and when you wake up next morning, your iPod will be ready to play new YouTube videos.
