Gestures still making you scratch your head in confusion? It doesn't seem to matter how much we try to get the hang of it, we'll always make some sort of mistake on the Trackpad and bring up a dialog box we didn't mean to. Regardless, maybe it's time we actually took those gestures and did something productive with 'em. So, here's five Trackpad gestures you ought to get the hang of, before gestures get the hang of you.

Yeah, that was meant to sound a little dramatic.

5 Time-Saving Trackpad Gestures

Four-finger unpinch
A really intuitive way to brush aside all the windows you’ve got open and show your Mac’s Desktop, pinch your fingers out across the Trackpad. If you've got nothing else going on, Dashboard will appear.

Three-finger swipe up
Get a quick overview of everything you’ve got running: scrolling with three fingers up brings up Mission Control.

Two-finger swipe left/right
Navigate back or forward in Safari, move between iCal months, page through items in Preview and more by swiping back and forth with your index- and middle-finger.

Four finger pinch
Access your Mac’s apps more quickly by bringing up Launchpad, which is similar to the home screen in iOS.

Three/four-finger swipe left/right
Move between Dashboard, your Desktop(s), and any full-screen apps you’ve currently got running.

The first image should have the arrows going in the opposite direction (ie: away from the hand) ... just FYI :)

and don't forget two finger swipe from the right-hand side of the trackpad to bring up Notification Center in ML
