Create a Slideshow to Go

The Scrapbook slideshow template in iPhoto '09 is really amazing. I would love to be able to burn the same slideshow onto a CD or DVD to view later or to give to family members. Is this possible within iPhoto?
It’s not only possible, it’s easy. Select all the photos you want in your slideshow, then press Command-N, and click Slideshow in the pop-up dialog. Give the new slideshow a name, and check the box to have your selected photos added to it. The new slideshow appears in iPhoto’s sidebar, and you can drag more photos to it from anywhere in iPhoto.
To edit the slideshow, select it, and you can reorder the photos, apply your favorite Scrapbook theme, change the music, and control the transitions and other effects. Click Preview or Play to check it out, and when it’s how you like it, select Share > Send to iDVD from the menubar. (If a dialog asks if you want to send one photo or the whole slideshow, pick the whole slideshow.)

Send a slideshow from iPhoto to DVD, or just export it from iPhoto in a small-enough size to email or upload to the Web.
iPhoto will send your slideshow to iDVD, where you can select a theme for your DVD’s menu, then drag in a photo from iPhoto, rename your slideshow if necessary, preview the playback, and burn a disc.
But you don’t even have to burn a DVD to share your slideshow. With the slideshow selected in the left pane, click the Export button, and select Mobile. If you check the “Send to iTunes” option, you’ll be able to sync it to your iPod--any current iPod except the shuffle can play it. We exported a slideshow of 30 photos switching every 4 seconds (total time: 1:16) using the Mobile setting, and got an H.264 file of just 8.8MB, small enough to email, upload to Facebook or Flickr, or post to a MobileMe gallery.
