How to Backup and Download Your Facebook Photos
With the Google+ announcement and the rush to get on the newest social networking service, Facebook may soon look like a wild west scene with a tumbleweed blowing in the wind (i.e. like how Myspace looks now).
If you're looking to migrate from Facebook to Google+ or you just want to backup your Facebook photos, we found an online tool that can help you out and save you some time.
Pick & Zip can backup all of your Facebook photos and download them to your computer in one swoop.
1. Login with Facebook
The first step is to head to the Pick & Zip website and "Login with Facebook."

You will be presented with a pop up login form. After signing in, you may be prompted to allow Pick & Zip access to your Facebook account for the purpose of grabbing your photos.
2. Select Your Photos
After signing in, you will get access to the Pick & Zip app to download your photos. You can manually go through and select the photos you wish to download, but we want to just grab them all.
To do this, locate the green "Find My Photos" button and click it. The web app will go to work, finding not only the photos you were tagged in, but also all of the photos in your account.
When you are ready to download all of your photos, go to the Download tab and select "Download all photos." You will be prompted for the file format to be downloaded; we’ll select ZIP since we want the original photos. Pick & Zip will begin to process your photos.
3. Save and Unzip Your Photos

After your photos have finished processing, the application will prompt you to select a save location for your photos. Find an appropriate place on your Mac and save. Save like the wind.

You will then be able to double-click on the ZIP file in Finder to unzip and reveal your Facebook photos. Drop them in iPhoto, upload them to Google+, email them to your parents, or just sit and gaze at them and rememeber all the good times you'e had on Facebook.

I went ahead and downloaded all of my photos using this, despite not knowing about the company. It's something I've been meaning to do, but have dreaded because I have so many photos.
Using Pick & Zip was easy and very convenient. I now have all my pictures saved on my computer. After, I removed the connection from my account. It does post something on your wall, but I deleted that too.

I took a quick look at their Privacy doc, nothing alarming but I'm also wary of logging in like this through a 3rd party. I realize it's probably no different than most other FB Apps, but guess what? I don't use a single one of those either.

I did a quick search for other utilities or Firefox Extensions that would pull any mass of info from FaceBook, most get slapped with Cease & Desist orders pretty fast, so I'm not sure how long this one will survive either.

Sounds like a very useful and important tool but before I give my Facebook userid and password to anyone I would like to know a little more about the company and whether it is safe.
