How To Create Keyboard Shortcuts for Apple Mail

Many of us spend the majority of our day sifting through, sorting, and retrieving email. But when you're moving messages between folders, clicking, dragging and dropping becomes a repetitive annoyance. Fortunately, Mac OS X comes with the built-in ability to assign keyboard shortcuts. Read along to discover how to implement these shortcuts to bring your inbox to organizational heaven.

Note: Because of the way this feature works, ensure that the folder you’re moving messages to is located on your Mac -- not on an IMAP server -- and that it has a unique name. If you encoutner a problem with the keyboard shortcuts, consider placing a special character before or after the folder name to help alleviate any potential problems (i.e. use a “%My Mailbox Name” or “My Mailbox Name@”).
