I recently started fooling around with Google Voice, and now I have no clue how to shut it off. Even though I’ve logged out of my accounts on all devices, whenever I get a call, it automatically rolls to my Google Voice mailbox.
With Google Voice, whenever someone calls your GVoice number, the call will automatically be routed to your selected phones in the Google Voice settings. This will not impact your regular phone number. If someone calls your old cell or home phone number, then it will ring as usual without going through the Google Voice service.
However, if you activated Google voicemail on your cell phone, whenever someone calls your cell phone number and doesn’t get an answer, they will be directed to your GVoice voicemail instead of your cell provider’s voicemail system. This can be deactivated by going to voice.google.com, navigating to Settings > Phones, and clicking the link labeled “Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone.” This will present instructions for deactivating the GVoice voicemail on your line.
Deactivating Google’s voicemail system on your cell phone is as simple as navigating to your account settings.
You can also follow the instructions here. To deactivate on an iPhone, open the Phone app and tap the Keypad, then a code based on your provider. For AT&T, type ##004#, for Verizon type *73, and for Sprint it’s *38. Now tap the Call key. That should change you back to your provider’s normal voicemail system.
