I have a large collection of vinyl records that I ripped to my Mac and put into iTunes. Unfortunately, some of the songs are strung together. Do you know of a relatively easy way to split them?
GarageBand is the best solution for doing this quickly. Launch the app and create a new blank project. In the lower-right corner of the window, click the Media Browser button, and locate your music in your iTunes library. Conversely, if you placed your audio files elsewhere, you can import them by dragging and dropping them from the Finder into the GarageBand window.

Drag and drop files from the Finder into GarageBand, or use the Media Browser.
Once the track is loaded, move the playhead over the spot in the track where you want the split to occur. Press Command-T (or choose Edit > Split) to split the track at this precise point. The track will split in two. Delete the unwanted portion (usually the one on the left side) by selecting it in the track browser and pressing Delete on your keyboard.

Splitting a track in GarageBand is as easy as pressing Command–T.
With the unwanted section now removed, drag the remaining track back to the beginning of the timeline (at bar 1). Keep doing this until you have the portion of the track you want to keep. When you’re ready to export, ensure that the small purple arrow at the end of the timeline is dragged to the end of the song in order to avoid more silence at the end of the song.

Sharing the track to iTunes is an easy process; just fill in the metadata.
Once you’re finished editing, click Share > Send Song to iTunes, and in the resulting dialog, fill in the information for the song. Click the Share button to have the file instantly imported into iTunes. Repeat this entire process for each track you need to split into individual songs.
