I need a font doctor, stat! Something has gone horribly awry in my Fonts folder.
Did you happen to add to or remove fonts from your System/Library/Fonts folder? This location—along with System Folder/Fonts—is usually reserved for fonts required by the operating system. The best place to keep new fonts is in the Library/Fonts folder of your Home folder, where you can organize new fonts by grouping them into subfolders. (OS X Lion users can open this Library folder by holding down the Option key while accessing the Finder’s Go menu.)

Yellow triangles in Font Book are an indication of conflicts that should be addressed.
To diagnose font conflicts, open Applications > Font Book. Scroll through the Font panel and look for signs of trouble, indicated by small yellow triangles. Select one, and you’ll see details of the problem at the right, underneath the font preview—for example, “Multiple copies of this font are installed,” a common issue. Font Book will offer to resolve the issue automatically with a button click, or you can click Resolve Manually to examine the problem and make the best decision.
