How to Hide Newsstand on iOS Devices

Since its introduction, there are many users who have never downloaded a Newsstand-enabled app to their iOS device. The icon just sits, taking up space on your home screen, without any way to turn it off, or remove the icon--until now. Thanks to a small Mac and Windows app called StifleStand, you can hide the Newsstand app in a folder without jailbreaking your device.
The first step to hiding Newsstand is to download the freely available StifleStand from its website. It is available for both Mac and Windows.
Next, connect your iOS device via USB to your Mac, and open the StifleStand app. Once loaded, the name of the device connected will appear in the “Device connected” field. To hide Newsstand on that device, select the “Hide Newsstand” button.

Once complete, you will get a “Done!” notification on your Mac, and the Newsstand icon will be hidden on your device in a new folder named “Magic.” You can rename this folder and store other items in it at will.

It is worth noting that Newsstand will not work when inside of a folder. Tapping its icon will cause the iOS Springboard to restart (a process, which, will make your device look as though it’s restarting momentarily). If you wish to return Newsstand to its original state, simply drag the icon out of the newly minted folder, and Newsstand will begin to function normally. Once you drag the app out of the folder, however, you will need to use StifleStand to place the Newsstand app back inside of a folder.
Some other notes: In our first attempt, the app failed to hide Newsstand on our device. After disconnecting and reconnecting our device, it worked.
