How to Keep Your Notes Organized Across Devices With Simplenote
By now, you know that Evernote is a great application for keeping your data in sync across multiple platforms. But while Evernote has a myriad of useful features -- like the ability to take voice memos and install other add-ons that work in conjunction with its services --it can end up feeling like bloatware.
Fortunately, there's a simpler alternative that doesn't run circles around your head with extraneous features. With Simplenote and Notational Velocity, you can keep the core functionality of Evernote's archiving and listing system and opt out of all those other extra features that you don't use. Don't need add-ons and voice notation? No problem. Read on to find out how to set up a simpler note-taking service across your Macs and iOS devices.
1. Sign-up

Head over to Simplenote's site and create an account with your email address. From there you can start using the web app to create notes that will sync to your other devices. You'll notice Simplenote features tagging, searching, and exporting, among other functions.
2. Download the iOS apps

Simplenote also offers a free, universal app in the App Store. It's particularly handy for writers, or if you just want to keep your shopping notes, to-dos, and various obligations in sync.
3. Download and set up Notational Velocity

If you're anything like us, you probably use a variety of computers to update your various lists. If these computers don't belong to you, you can always log in to Simplenote using the web app described in step one. But, if they do belong to you, be sure to install a free app called Notational Velocity, available here. It instantly syncs your notes with your Simplenote account, allowing you to easily edit your notes from any computer, anytime. It even syncs with Dropbox! The option to sync with Simplenote will pop up as soon as you select "preferences."
If you want to check out even more ways to use Simplenote, visit Simplenote's downloads page. You'll find alternatives to Notational Velocity (though we obviously like Notational Velocity best), Dashboard apps, and more!
Have we convinced you to ditch your other note-taking systems, or do you have something better? Let us know in the comments!

It seems that no one talks about it, but I love NoteSpark.com and use it every day. It is very similar to Simplenote, but without the ads. Notespark has iOS apps and great web app for easy syncing between all devices. Why do more people not use NoteSpark?
