Look, we all could use a little extra money. Unfortunately, jobs are hard to come by. And if you’ve already got one, it’s even harder to find additional work at times you’re actually capable of working. The good news is that, thanks to your iOS device, you can quickly find people who are willing to pay for menial things. Our favorite among them is Gigwalk (free), which lets you earn extra money while you’re out and about.

Gigwalk has a ton of available gigs in San Francisco.
Gigwalk’s map view shows dozens of pins representing “gigs” for the taking. Currently, it’s mostly companies paying $4 or so for you to answer some on-location market research questions and take some pictures (say, of a café’s signage and menus). Once you’ve done the work, it’ll be quality checked and then you’ll get paid via PayPal, plus earn “cred” points that unlock higher-paying gigs. It’s fun, especially since the tasks don’t generally take too long.

Each gig shows you how long it should take, and if you’re in the vicinity, just tap Start Working.
Gigwalk’s currently only in six major metropolis areas (the SF Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago, South Florida, New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia), so if you’re looking for suburban money, you might just want to try Craigslist, but we implore you to be cautious.

List view lets you check out nearby gigs—and what they’re paying—at a glance.
