How to Rescue Your iOS Photos with Picturescue

Have you ever taken a photo with your iOS device, only to later find out that it is missing? Or perhaps you had to reset your iOS device before you could retrieve your photo? No problem! As long as you've synced your device, you can retrieve your photo from old iOS backups using a Mac application called Picturescue.

Picturescue is available from the developer’s website for $4.99, but a free trial of the application is also available, which will allow you to browse for your photos but will not allow you to export them.

After installing the app, open it up. You will be presented with the main window that will begin loading your iOS backups.

To the left-hand side of the application window, you'll be able to see the iOS device backups, as well as the backup dates. Select any of the dates to see the photos that are saved in the backup file.

When you select a backup, you'll see the photos that were saved from your last backup. You can then select the photos you want to restore.

After selecting your photos, click “Export Selected” to retrieve the photos from the backup file. You can also select “Export All” to have the entire photo backup exported. You will be prompted to pick a save location upon clicking one of the export buttons.
