The Magic Trackpad is an amazing tool for bringing Multi-Touch controls to a desktop Mac, but if you have an iPad, you can get the same great effect for five bucks. All you need is an iOS app called TouchPad ($4.99) that gives you the ability to use your iPad just like a Magic Trackpad.
1. Connect to Your Mac
After following the in-app setup instructions for TouchPad, connect to your Mac by selecting it in the server connection list found after tapping on the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
2. Control Your Mac with Multi-Touch Ease

The large trackpad provided by this iPad app is much larger than Apple’s Magic Trackpad.
After a successful connection, you will be able to control your Mac’s cursor by dragging one finger along the trackpad section of the iPad app. To right-click, tap with two fingers. You can also use Multi-Touch gestures and two-finger gestures like scrolling. Party!
3. Control Your Media Console

Using the specialized media controls, you can control your favorite media console application on your Mac.
If you have a Mac set up as a media center, you’ll appreciate being able to control your Mac and media-watching experience with just an iPad. Whether you use Boxee, Hulu, or Front Row, you can control these and many other media applications right from within TouchPad. To do this, tap on the Play/Pause button in the toolbar, and then tap on the button labeled Front Row to change the application it controls. Ta-da! You now have an instant, wireless universal remote control for your Mac.
