How to Use Home Sharing in iOS 4.3

Home Sharing is finally on your iOS devices with the release of iOS 4.3. What's that mean? You can finally listen to all of the music and watch all the videos on all of your iOS devices and Macs. That means you too Apple TV with your photo sharing.
Before you get all giddy with streaming excitement, you're going to need to set all of this Home Sharing up. We've got you covered.

Turn on Home Sharing in iTunes: Before you start Home Sharing from your iOS device, you need to turn it on in iTunes. Head to iTunes>Advanced>Turn On Home Sharing. You'll be prompted to sign into your MobileMe or Apple ID account. Do that, and you're ready to rock.

Turn on Home Sharing (iPhone and iPod touch): Share your music with other Macs and iOS devices with Home Sharing. You will need a MobileMe or Apple ID account for this feature. Head to Settings>iPod and add your MobileMe account to Home Sharing.

Turn on Home Sharing (iPad): Share your music with other Macs and iOS devices with Home Sharing. You will need a MobileMe or Apple ID account for this feature. Head to Settings>iPod and add your MobileMe account to Home Sharing.

Home Sharing Rocking (iPhone and iPod touch): Launch the iPod app on your iPhone or iPod touch device. Tap on the More tab. Tap on Shared. There you'll see your iOS devices shared Library and Shared libraries on your local network. Tap on one of the Shared Libraries to access the media in that library. It might take a few minutes to update this information. Now you can watch and listen to all of that media on your iPhone.

Home Sharing Rocking (iPad): Launch the iPod app on your iPad. In the left column, you should see the a little house with Library next to it. Tap on that. Tap on one of the Shared Libraries to access the media in that library. It might take a few minutes to update this information. Now you can watch and listen to all of that media on your iPad.

Update Play Counts with Home Sharing: In iTunes head to the Menu Bar iTunes>Preferences tap on the Sharing Tab. Now whenever you play a song, it updates the play list. Perfect for those Smart Playlists that are based on play frequency.

Turn on iPhoto Home Sharing: In iTunes. that's right, iTunes, navigate to Advanced>Choose Photos to Share. You'll be presented with the photo sharing preferences. Choose the photos you want to share. Either all, or chosen albums, events, and faces. Hit apply. Enjoy your photos and videos on your Apple TV.
