This week, we'll show you effective ways to manage your email by deleting messages you no longer need and offering some handy secrets about the iOS calculator app.
Email Swipe to Delete
The iOS interface offers a quick way to delete items in lists. For example, if you are looking at that long list of emails in your inbox and are wondering how to rid of the clutter, simply swipe your finger across that email. A red button will appear that says, "Delete." Try this on other lists within other iOS apps and you'll usually find this shortcut available.

Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Delete Multiple Messages from your Inbox
The method above might wear out your fingers, so instead, tap the Edit button. The screen will then change and circles will appear on the left hand side. Then, tap the circle next to the messages you want to delete. A red circle with a checkmark inside will appear. Those messages will be deleted after you press the red button labeled Delete (#) at the bottom left side of the display.

Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Calculator Swipe to Delete
Imagine yourself running some numbers through the iOS Calculator app and along the way you type 10,000, when you really meant to type 1,000. You stare at the screen pondering how to fix it without starting over. The app doesn't give you any clues about what do to, but certainly don't tap the "C" key--you'll just end up clearing your numbers out. Starting over isn't fun especially if that 1,000 you meant to type was the 30th check from a pile of checks you were trying to total. So, what do you do?
Simply take your finger and swipe across the 10,000 displayed on the screen. You can start from the left or the right when you swipe. The result is that the last zero will drop off and that 10,000 is now 1,000.

Compatibility: iPhone and iPod touch.
Calculator Scientific Mode
Launch the Calculator app and rotate your iPhone or iPod touch into landscape mode. The simple calculator becomes a scientific calculator with advanced functions. Don't forget the "2nd" key, since pressing it activates additional scientific functons.

Compatibility: iPhone and iPod touch.
