I can't give up Mac OS 9 because of the way-useful outlining program called More. Is there anything comparable in Mac OS X?

More was certainly a great outliner, but there are - dare we say - even better ones in Mac OS X.
A Sharp's Opal ($32, www.a-sharp.com) is a straight offshoot of old-school outliners such as More and A Sharp's own Acta. Modern alternatives with more information-gathering and -organizing features include Circus Ponies' NoteBook ($49.95, www.circusponies.com), AquaMinds' NoteTaker ($69.95, www.aquaminds.com), and the Omni Group's OmniOutliner ($39.95, www.omnigroup.com).
And since you asked (or did you...?) our favorite brain-dump receptacle is the more visual flowcharting app OmniGraffle ($79.95, www.omnigroup.com) - we even used it to design this very website.
