I tried importing a song into GarageBand for scoring, but it didn't work.

I bought a couple of songs from the iTunes Store to incorporate into a movie that I was preparing for our company retreat. I tried importing a song into GarageBand for scoring, but it didn't work because it's a protected AAC file. Is there some way of overriding this for personal use?

Well, just channeling The Man for a minute, we must point out that if you're preparing this for your company retreat, that's stretching the bounds of personal use.

That said, you can do the same trick using iMovie, import the song, and export it to QuickTime, or you can burn the protected files as a regular audio disc and reimport them in an unprotected format. But we can't legally tell you exactly how.
